CITIC HIC came to Belarus and plans to deploy production here. In a nutshell, this is something like the
Chinese version of Boston Dynamics: CITIC HIC develops large robots that are needed in dangerous
situations, such as fires. CITAM Intellectual Equity (CITAM IE) plans to launch their production in
Belarus and aims to sell about fifty robots in a year. Together with the Ministry of Emergency
Situations, the company arranged a spectacular presentation of new products.
RXR-MC80JD doesn’t differ from radio-controlled cars in the way of controlling the movement, except that there are more buttons on the remote control, and only a child who eats a lot of porridge will pick it up. In terms of classification, this caterpillar colossus is called the "fire-intelligence robot for fire fighting." Its main task is to eliminate the risk to people when putting out the fire, about the same as sappers send the robot to check suspicious bags, and they themselves stand in the distance. You can equip the RXR-MC80JD with anything, if only the customer fits into the budget: one copy costs an average of $ 100-150 thousand.
The battery lasts for about ten hours of operation, so the batteries will not run out during a fire.
Hence the weight is almost half a ton - you can’t take it under your arm. The robot has two connectors
for the sleeves, which ensures jet flow at the level of conventional fire engines - they say there is no
power loss. Moreover, the robot can do without an EMERCOM tank: the “interface” is suitable for direct
connection to hydrants.
The robot can operate at temperatures up to 350 degrees Celsius. Of course, in a fire it can be much
hotter, but if you extinguish from the outside, the safety margin should be enough. Caterpillars, for
example, are made of special refractory rubber, and inside there is a metal frame. The robot even knows
how to cool itself: from time to time it sprays water from the turret onto the body.
When using the RXR-MC80JD, you don’t need much from a person: connect the hoses, supply water and stand
with the remote control no further than a kilometer from the robot itself. In the company with the robot
firefighter was the RXR-C6BD - this is already just a "intelligence robot." In addition to a
conventional camera, it has an infrared, thermal imager and gas analyzer. The equipment helps to find
people both during fires and during cataclysms (earthquakes, avalanches, etc.).
Li Heyang, CITAM Sales Manager, spoke about the company's plans for the development of the Belarusian
— How widely are such robots used in China or other countries?
— They received the greatest distribution in the territory of China, we also sell robots to Australia, Canada, Saudi Arabia and India.
— And here Belarus is added. Why exactly our country?
— A very important economic path passes through Belarus (“One belt - one way”). The site of the Great Stone is one of such points; here it is convenient for Chinese enterprises to settle and expand production. Also, becoming a resident of the park, we received tax benefits, which facilitates our activities.
— Firefighter needs additional training or was given a remote control - and he can immediately
extinguish the fire using a robot?
— Yes, our technical specialists will provide training. Also in Belarus, in addition to production, we will arrange after-sales maintenance.
— Are there technical restrictions on the use of robots in fires?
— If we consider this model of the robot, then it can work at temperatures up to 350 degrees. When exposed to radiation, it will lose a signal. The water stream reaches 80-100 meters in height, so if you need to extinguish more tall buildings, then the robot will not work. But we have a robot with a jet height of 130-150 meters.
— What production volumes do you plan?
— Fifty fire robots per year. This is our most popular model. About twenty of them we plan to implement in Belarus, the same number will go to Russia, and ten - to other countries.
So far, there are no such gizmos in the Belarusian fire departments, and CITAM IE employees answer the questions about the likelihood of occurrence with a significant “Negotiations are ongoing, there is interest”. Such robots are needed in rare cases - it is simply inexpedient to use them when extinguishing garbage cans in yards. But at large factories, at airports and military units, where there are constant fire crews, robots can be very useful: if there is a tank with fuel or an ammunition depot, then firefighters are at great risk.
